Our lambs are born outside on pasture in May, which creates a high quality life for both the sheep and the shepherd. Plenty of fresh air and new, clean pasture every day means healthy lambs. Lush pasture, mother's milk, and a small amount of corn are all our lambs eat. We do not feed them antibiotics or hormones to make them grow faster, so all their growth is natural. But if an animal on this farm falls ill, we do administer a three-day run of antibiotics if necessary to help the animal fight off infection. On our small farm, the life of every animal counts.

We buy very young steers from a local dairy farmer, raise them on bottles until they’re old enough to graze, then move them with the sheep to fresh grass every day during the spring, summer, and fall.

Farming is more than just making a profit. It's protecting the land, working with it rather than against it, improving the soil without chemicals, building on the land's natural strengths rather than forcing it into inappropriate uses.

We raise animals humanely, treating them with kindness and respect. Because our lambs and steers spend their entire lives on our farm, you can be assured they live calm, low-stress lives.
